Like it or not, Paris Hilton is reportedly the highest paid female DJ in the world right now, commanding upwards of a million dollars per gig.
She makes no apologies for her success, telling TIME Magazine in a recent profile that “As a businesswoman, I want to get the biggest fee possible, so I want to go to the places where they have a budget and it’ll be worth my time.”
The self-confessed “huge tech geek” released her first album in 2006 with Stars Are Blind, a lyrically-challenged, saccharine pop affair that charted high Billboard. Now she’s readying album number two, promising a “whole new sound” full of “deep house, techno-pop and electro-pop.”
Haters be damned, however, as a teary-eyed Hilton complains that “People are so mean. And they don’t know me. I get so misjudged. Just because my last name is Hilton does not mean that I’m some stuck-up brat.”
She even says she’d even DJ for free. Though sitting atop a brand that counts 23 perfumes, 19 product lines and over 45 stores, Hilton’s business sense probably wouldn’t allow it.
But she does sound ready for a change, perhaps away from DJing. “I would love to just, like, move on,” she said. “To continue being a businesswoman, but to have a family.”
Perhaps a sliver of good news for anyone tired of DJ Paris Hilton.
